Four & five year old Monday, Wednesday & Friday morning
Our preschool provides a faith based, warm and welcome environment for your child. When learning through play at multi-sensory centers your child will:
Writing Center
Many different types of writing materials are provided here for writing experiences. The materials may include multiple sized and colored paper, pencils, crayons, scissors, staplers, markers, colored pencils, stickers, stencils, the alphabet, writing prompts, tablets, construction paper, and glue.
Block Area
Block play involves three dimensional planning, spatial relations, shape recognition, counting and measurement skills. We also add several accessories such as people, animals, vehicles, traffic signs, multiple textures such as fabrics, and carpets to enhance imaginary play.
Manipulatives
Age appropriate games and puzzles provide many opportunities for sorting, counting, matching and the important skill for taking turns. Additional materials include stacking toys, beads for stringing, lacing boards, pounding benches, peg boards, geoboards, unifix cubes, pattern blocks, and many, many more.
Dramatic Play
Imaginative play encourages oral language skills, and provides opportunities for self-regulation, sharing, taking turns, and recreating real life experiences. This area also encourages nurturing skills when children care for baby dolls and each other while role playing.
Science Area
Exploration, observation, and discovery drives this hands-on center which provides daily opportunities for inquisitive minds to learn. It is a place to look, touch, smell, and sometimes taste. A place to experience the scientific method of asking questions and finding answers to why and how questions.
Sensory Table
This table provides sensory experiences as well as measuring, estimation, and the free exploration of different texture opportunities. Watch this area for changes from sand, to rice, to water, and more over the course of the school year.
Creative Expression/Art Table
This area is used for art, cooking, and other daily sensory activities. Cooking activities incorporate math skills, and the fun of making their own snack. Art celebrates and provides opportunities for expression using different mediums. Available daily, this very popular center provides our students with the opportunity to get messy with shaving cream, flubber, playdoh, goop, water, and much more.
Other important aspects of our curriculum are…
Bible
"Be kind and compassionate to one another," and "treat others as you would have them treat you," are our class mottos. Children learn by example and our class is structured to be a loving, safe environment where problem solving is done with kind words and cooperating with others in a polite way. This is enhanced with Bible stories, and the memorization of simple verses and songs.
Outside Play
This is an extension of our classroom. We have outside play everyday as long as weather permits. The benefits of fresh air and sunshine and not having to use an inside voice are important. It is also important for gross motor development: riding bikes, scooters, climbing, ball bouncing, etc. There is an enormous opportunity for learning outdoors: weather, trees, clouds, wind, what happens to ice when we bring it indoors, rocks, insects, etc.
Snack Time
Each day we will be providing a small healthy snack for your child. You are asked to supply your child's drink each day.
